Bringing people together

Before the Public Private Partnership (PPP) initiative in 2017, Byinks Foundation was solely funded by its young philanthropist founder, and has been able to achieve the under listed in line with her core areas of focus.

  • Free career talk, counseling and training for over 50,000 students across the six educational districts in Lagos state.
  • Free UTME forms and tutorial classes for over 1,000 candidates eligible for our scholarship award, and payment of feeding and transport allowance to them on examination day. We also follow up with their admission to ensure they are admitted with the first batch.
  • We have awarded scholarship to over 750 brilliant but less privileged secondary school leavers to study in universities across the country on full time tuition throughout the period of their study.
  • Quarterly replenishment of first-aid boxes of Public Schools in the six educational districts within Lagos state and free health care to communities, in partnership with local health centre.
  • Replenishment of first-aid boxes of fifty-seven local government health centres in Lagos state.
  • Provision of food and other basic needs to various widows and Care homes such as SOS village Isolo, Heritage Home  Anthony village and Modupe Cole Memorial Home  Akoka.
  • Empowerment of widows
  • Quarterly medical checkup for widows registered with the Foundation
  • Free eye check up and glasses to over 50 registered widows of the Foundation
  • Periodic follow up on Widows registered with the Foundation to boost their morale
  • Employment placements of over 500 qualified candidates in various sectors of the economy.
  • Raising the standard of education in Lagos state through our thorough selection process that ensures beneficiaries of our scholarship scheme, are exceptionally brilliant students who scored As and Bs in their WASSCE.
  • Capacity building for over 500 students and parents in the acquisition of vocational skills.
  • Annual gift presentation (worth N250,000 each) to the Best Male & Female teachers of Public Schools in Lagos State
  • Capacity building for eight best teachers in Lagos state public schools at Lagos Business School to raise them to world class standard.
 

We have 4 (four) major focus as a Foundation which are Food, Education, Employment and Health (F.E.E.H).

In terms of FOOD, we support widows, aged widowers and less privileged students with relief materials quarterly. We have provided different food items and other basic needs to various care homes and orphanages in Lagos State. Our target is to help save as many Nigerians as possible from the devastating effect of hunger.

Below are our achievements:

  • We distributed 3000 foodstuffs to less privilege people in Ikeja, Badagry, Epe, Ikorodu and Lagos Island (IBILE) during COVID-19 in 2020.
  • Provided food and other basic needs to various widows and Care homes such as SOS village Isolo, Heritage Home Anthony village and Modupe Cole Memorial Home Akoka.
  • Donation of food items and essentials to the internally displaced people’s camps.
  • We supported 500 registered widow with food items on September 16th 2021.

In terms of EDUCATION, As a Foundation, our mission is to reduce the level of illiteracy and hooliganism amongst less privilege youths in our communities and to empower this generation with the tools necessary for a productive life. We have offered and granted scholarships to many students within and outside Lagos. We sponsor and support Lagos state less privilege secondary school students (orphans, children of widows and aged widowers) that have the capacity intellectually to get excellent grades but cannot afford to further their education from secondary school level.

BYINKS FOUNDATION PROCEDURE FOR SELECTING STUDENTS FOR SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS

  1. Seek for Approval from Lagos state government through Ministry of Education.
  2. Authority to provide list of students from Ministry of Education to all Education district in Lagos state.
  3. Get list of 100 students with at least5 credits (A’s and B’s) from the six educational districts in Lagos state.
  4. Get Additional list from referrals (mosques, churches, past beneficiaries, walk-in students, through our websites and social media platforms) to make 1000 students.
  5. Shortlisting of candidates using WASSCE results/ confirmation of results.
  6. Have Career talk session with candidates and parents/guardians.
  7. Jamb standard Computer Based Examination will be conducted to select final list.
  8. The founder will have a brief meeting with beneficiary’s parents/guardians.
  9. Conducting Know Your Candidates (KYC) to ascertain true status of beneficiaries’ parents/guardians by visiting their various homes.
  10. Presentation of beneficiaries and Scholarship Awards officially at the Entertainment Meets Charity Annual Events.

Eligibility of Byinks Foundation Scholarship

  • An orphan with quality WAEC/NECO results.
  • A child of a widow/aged widower.

 

Below are our achievements:

  • Byinks Foundation paid the tuition fees of First Class students (orphans) who were about to DROP-OUT of Unilag due to outstanding tuition fees as at February 2022.
  • Free career talk, counseling and training for over 120,000 students across the six educational districts alongside 57 Local government with IBLE in Lagos state as at March 31st 2022.
  • Free UTME forms and tutorial classes for over 1,355 candidates eligible for our scholarship award, and payment of feeding and transport allowance to them on examination day. We also follow up with their admission to ensure they are admitted with the first batch as at 31st March, 2022.
  • We have awarded scholarships to over 1,355 brilliant but less privileged secondary school leavers to study in universities across the country on full time tuition throughout the period of their study.
  • Our success story of 2019 UTME and UTME gives us a new record of producing 4thover all best student with a score of 338 against overall best student of 347. At the moment, we have 70 admissions from six (6) Federal Universities on Merit lists out of 100 students we awarded scholarships to. While we are still awaiting more admissions to have 100% success.
  • Capacity building for over 500 students and parents in the acquisition of vocational skills.
  • Annual gift presentation {worth N250, 000 each) to the Best Male & Female teachers of Public Schools in Lagos State.
  • Capacity building for eight best teachers in Lagos state public schools at Lagos Business School to raise them to world class standard as at 2010.
  • Awards were given to the Best Male and Female Quality Assurance Staff in the Ministry of Education 2019.
  • Panel Session was organized on the 10th of November, 2019 where we had in attendance the Honorable Commissioner for Education, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Agriculture amongst other dignitaries who discussed on the focus of the Foundation: “Food, Education, and Employment & Health. Problems & possible solutions to the basic necessities of the Youths in Nigeria.”
  • Presentation of awards to the best principals (male and female) in all the (6) educational districts in Lagos State.
  • Distribution of textbooks to orphanage homes in Lagos State.

 

In terms of EMPLOYMENT, we give employment opportunities to our beneficiaries (orphans and children of widows/ aged widowers), in other to achieve this we follow up on them to make sure they graduate with either first-class or second class upper. We also empower registered widows on a yearly basis.

Below are our achievements:

  • Byinks Foundation supported registered widows with a monthly stipend of N5000 each on the 22nd April, 2022.
  • Employment placements for over 500 qualified candidates in various sectors of the economy.

 

In terms of HEALTH, we provide support of health facilities like medical consumables and well-equipped first aid boxes to Public secondary schools in six educational districts and Local government health centers within Lagos State quarterly. Our goal is to provide better health care delivery to communities and individuals.

Below are our achievements:

  • Quarterly replenishment of first-aid boxes for Public Schools in the six educational districts within Lagos state and free health care to communities, in partnership with local health centres on December 31st 2019.
  • Replenishment of first-aid boxes of fifty-seven local government health centres in Lagos state on November 11th 2018.
  • Quarterly medical checkup for widows registered with the Foundation.
  • Free eye checkup and glasses to over 50 registered widows of the Foundation. We follow up on Widows registered with the Foundation to make sure we love and care for them to boost their morale.
  • Yearly provision of First Aid Boxes to the best 6 Secondary Schools in Lagos State.
  • Distribution of well-equipped first aid boxes with other medical consumables to the visually impaired homes.
